Mainz Palace Open 2026 returns to the historic city of Mainz for a full weekend of international Ballroom and Latin dance competition. Following a successful debut edition, the event has expanded to two competition days and continues to attract dancers, officials, and spectators from across Germany and abroad.
Held inside the impressive Kurfürstliches Schloss directly on the Rhine River, the competition combines high-level dance sport with one of the most recognizable venues in German cultural history. The event includes WDSF competitions, solo categories, senior events, and additional national-level competitions for multiple age groups and levels.
Venue
The competition takes place at the Kurfürstliches Schloss zu Mainz, one of the city’s best-known historic landmarks. Its famous “Great Hall” has hosted prestigious dance events for decades and offers a unique atmosphere for both competitors and spectators. Mainz itself is easily accessible from Frankfurt and other major German cities, making it a convenient destination for international visitors.

Registration
Registration is available separately for couples and solo dancers through the official event channels. Competitors are encouraged to complete registration early, especially for popular WDSF and solo categories, as participation limits may apply.
The organizers are also welcoming volunteers to support the event across areas such as entrance management, setup, breakdown, and participant assistance.
Competition Floor
All competitions take place in the large hall of the Electoral Palace. The dance floor size is 11 x 22 meters, providing enough space for both WDSF and solo competitions throughout the weekend.
Parking
Several parking options are available near the venue:
- Underground Parking Rheinufer directly opposite the palace
- Additional parking area behind the palace near Schloss parking
Visitors arriving by car can easily access the venue from central Mainz and surrounding highways.
Travel Information
Mainz is well connected to Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport and can be reached comfortably by train or car.
From Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport:
- Around 35 minutes by S8 regional train to Mainz Main Station
- Around 20 minutes by Vlexx RE3 or SÜWEX RE2 trains
- Around 20 minutes from the airport ICE station to Mainz Main Station
- From Mainz Main Station, continue by Bus 9 or 68 to the venue
- Travel time by car is approximately the same depending on traffic
Please note that Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is located much farther away and does not offer convenient public transport connections to Mainz.
Train tickets for regional transport are available via RMV, while ICE tickets can be booked through Deutsche Bahn.
