Dance Team Vakita in a nutshell

Vakita Dance Team (Dance Team Vakita) is an active DanceSport club located in Vantaa and a member of the Finnish Dance Sport Federation. Vakita celebrated 39 years in 2026 — we are an experienced and well-established club providing high-quality services for ballroom and social dancers around the Helsinki metropolitan area.

Vakita Dance Team has received two Olympic Committee Star Club (Tähtiseura) recognitions from the Finnish Olympic Committee in recognition of our work supporting children, youth and adults in their dancing hobby.

We specialize in Latin and Standard ballroom dancing and teach students at all levels and age groups — everybody is welcome to join Vakita. We also offer solo dance classes (Solo Latin & Salsa) for dancing without a partner.

We have our own practice studio in Varisto, Vantaa, conveniently accessible by public transport.

We run weekly class schedules during autumn and spring seasons, free practice slots in our studio, hosted practice sessions, and frequent guest-teacher group lessons and camps. The weekly timetable is available online (in Finnish): https://vakita.fi/salivuorokalenteri/

Our teachers — both Vakita’s own and guest instructors — are experienced DanceSport professionals committed to helping students learn and progress.

Vakita also organises DanceSport competitions on a regular basis.

Ballroom dancing in short

• 10 ballroom dances: Latin — Samba, Cha-cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive; Standard — Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep.
• Multiple age groups from Juvenile to Senior 5 (up to 70+).
• Skill levels from E to A; students typically start with basics and progress through tests and competitive levels.
• At E level you learn 6 dances; D adds two more; from C onwards you master all 10 dances.
• Dancers may later specialise in Latin or Standard if desired.
